The days are getting longer!

I hope you have all had a good break. The weather might be cold but cricket training is starting on Friday (the 9th of Jan): 7-8PM at Sandringham school sports Hall (Below is a link to finding the sports hall once you arrive at the school)
Sports Hall

We will be using a hard cricket ball this season and part of the aim of these winter sessions will be to introduce the children to running in full protective equipment so I’d like them all to be wearing their helmets, pads, gloves, box and bring their bat for the 7pm start. If your child hasn’t got any of these then please contact me (07941379228) and I will check to see if there are spares at the Club.
A little more on the 2022 season:
Selection for matches will be similar to last season: no streaming of the two sides so everyone is likely to player with everyone else at some point in the season. The one exception to this is if any of the sides make it through to a knockout, at which stage I will decide wheather to pick the strongest side or just pick the players that have been available for the most games.
The number of games your child plays will be proportional to the number of games you make them available for. We will have 16-20 league games and if most children are available for all the matches and one child is available for half the games then the majority will play 6-7 matches and the child available for half the games will play 3.
Weather permitting the matches will start mid April and there maybe some clashes with footbal and rugby but for May, June and July I expect cricket to take priority over winter sports. It is a very short season! If there is a run of fixtures on an evening that your child does other activities then please let me know as I might be able to fix it so they only play in one of those fixtures. Last season everyone was well above the cut-off point of >75% availability. The same for >75% attendence at training.
Subs this year have gone up to bring them inline with the other age groups who needed the extra input of a paid coach. Whilst I think we have a good set up, especially with Richie and Rob completing their Level 1 coaching qualifications, I do think the children benefit massively from 1:1 sessions so the extra money will be spent on providing 1:1 sessions during the winter and the summer. In addition I plan to do more 1:1s and small group sessions every other Saturday afternoon during the season. These will appear in the app nearer April.
I’ve also pencilled in a couple of longer (10am to 4pm) training sessions on the 18th of April and the 6th of June. There will be a cost associated with these two days as I’ll need to bring in coaches to help run the sessions and possibly hire indoor space for the 18th of April due the weather) It will be good to know if people would be interested in these sessions – please indicate an interest by making your child available for the sessions on the app. I don’t expect a firm commitment at this stage, that will come nearer the date.
Outdoor training will start in April and sessions will run from 5pm to 6.30 to the end of August – hopefully we’ll get better at finishing on time.
Outdoor training will be on the Common and matches will be up at the Rec, probably on the artificial wicket.
Notable dates: Dinner & Dance 17th of September
Junior Presentation evening: Friday 16th September
Finals Day 17th of July
Can you also let me know if your child is involved with District/Area or County training?

Regards
John
