It is said that cricket was first played on the common in Redbourn in 1666. Redbourn Cricket Club was officially founded some time prior to 1823, making the Club one of the oldest clubs in Hertfordshire. In 2023 we celebrated our bicentenary with a match against the MCC.

We have five senior teams playing in the Saracens Herts Premier Cricket League on Saturdays and Sundays we also have a social side who play a number of friendly fixtures against local clubs.

Our 1XI has enjoyed considerable success in recent years and in 2025 enjoyed its best season ever, finishing in 3rd place the Championship League. The 2XI play in Division 3B having been promoted twice in recent years. The 3rd and 4th were both promoted in 2025 and will play in Division 7 West and 12 West next year. Our development XI will play in Division 14 West.

In 2020 our 1XI played at Lord's in the final of the Cricketer magazine's National Village Knockout Cup. Sadly, they lost on the final ball of the match, but are determined to go one better.

As a club, we continue to promote women's and girl's cricket. Our senior women's side play in the Championship of the Herts Women's League. The Club also fields a Women's softball team which also plays in the Herts Women's League. We have approximately 300 juniors from U6s - U15s age groups playing regularly, including a girls section that offers the opportunity for girls to play cricket in an "all girls" environment. All of our junior squads (U6s -U15s, girls & boys) are coached by professional coaches in addition to the RCC volunteer coaches, providing enhanced coaching over both winter and summer training. We also run the ECB national All Stars and Dynamos (Girls only) programs.
