RCC hosted Glynde & Beddingham on a hot and windy Sunday to determine who would go through to the next stage of the National Village Cup. Glynde won the toss and elected to bat, starting brightly with openers James Peck and Archie Burrows putting on 50 in quick time. The large home crowd started to fear that Redbourn might face a big total, but three quick wickets from the excellent Dan Darvell left Glynde on 80-3, calming spectator nerves. Glynde couldn’t recover their early momentum and continued to lose wickets with Conor Yorath and Dan Roe each bagging a pair. The Glynde innings closed on 154 all out in the 37th over.

Redbourn approached the chase in a positive fashion. Openers Will Hales (57*) and Yorath (30) both batted fluently putting on 76 before Yorath fell. A second wicket brought Ed Hales to the crease with the score on 94-2. Hales scored a 16 ball 35, including two reverse swept sixes, dashed any hopes Glynde might have had and Redbourn cantered to the target in just under 26 overs.
