Redbourn Cricket Club was very sad to hear of the passing of Life Member Roy Woods. Roy was born in 1932 and brought up in Church End, Redbourn. He was a Club member from his school days and Club Treasurer from 1961-1986 and was in post when the plans for the pavilion in its present position were drawn up and the pavilion built in 1967.
As a player he would be classed as an all rounder, a useful batsman who bowled very slow non turning deliveries! His contribution to RCC over the years is immeasurable, totally reliable in everything he turned his hand to. One of the old school who made such a major contribution to the Club, making it what it is today and asking for nothing in return. Roy continued to be an ardent fan throughout his retirement and could regularly be seen watching matches from the boundary. He will be sorely missed.
