20 0vers Pairs match - Grand Union 266 - Reddbourn 286

After heavy overnight rain Redbourn arrived to light rain and overcast skies at Hemel Town for Redbourn's first ever Girls hardball match.
The tension was palpable and the girls were clearly nervous representing the club on this auspicious occasion.

Winning the toss team captain Sophie elected to field first clearly looking at the soft wicket and overcast skies and sensing wickets!

How right she was - as Sophie bowled beautifully and and took two quick wickets (both clean bowled) in her two over spell.
The rest of the team all took advantage of the conditions offering Grand Union a nominal amount of extras while Sophie managed the field like and old pro restricting singles and only allowing the Grand Union batsmen a limited number of boundaries.

Wickets for Sophie (2), Grace, Holly , Kate and Clara helped keep Grand Union down to an achievable 266 off 20 overs.

A solid start from Holly and Eva was followed up by a swashbuckling 26 off 4 overs from Sophie and Eliza. Every batting pair then contributed leaving Clara and Sammy requiring only 6 runs off their four overs. The final pair emulated Sophie and Eliza scoring 26 runs without conceding a wicket to give Redbourn a comfortable 20 run winning margin.
