RCC U13 girls played Harpenden U13 Girls today (Sunday) and continued their great form to win with a fantastic 37 run victory. As many of you know Harpenden are County Girls Champions and always provide strong opposition. Our girls won the toss, elected to bowl and took an early wicket with our first paring of Sophie and Olivia who continued to bowl really well and keep Harpenden to a low score.
Each pair thereafter of Holly and Izzy, Sophia and Eva and ending with Sammy and Clara bowled brilliantly to limit Harpenden to a score of 286-2. The girls should also very very proud of their fielding as they never allowed Harpenden to score any additional runs with very tight fielding and backing each other up which we had been working on in our previous games and training. As we came into bat our main aim was to hit 15-25 per pair which Olivia and Sophie duly did to make sure we got off to a great start.
Holly and Izzy along with Sophia and Eva all then batted steadily to take a number of singles, running on wides and no balls and each pair scoring twos and boundaries to put us at 263 for our final pair.
Sammy and Clara started the first over with a couple of fours to calm the nerves of the parents and coaches alike, who were all starting to feel the butterflies!
Our final pair saw us home with a 60+ run unbeaten stand and the team had amassed an amazing total of 323-3 for a comfortable win.
This was a really great performance by all the girls and every girl in our squad who had trained and played this season should be very pleased and proud as everyone has helped contribute to this amazing win.
